On December 4th, Texas A&M University-Kingsville had the pleasure of celebrating the legacy of Sara Tudón Garcia with a special reception held in the Founders’ Room. Many of her family members where present to celebrate this distinct occasion, made possible thanks to a generous gift from her granddaughter, the Honorable Sarah Saldaña ’73 and her husband Don Templin. Their donation to the Center for Student Success will directly support students by expanding access to essential resources that help them continue pursuing their degree goals. The Center for Student Success empowers students through high-impact learning strategies and personalized services that address academic progress, career planning, and personal development. Committed to excellence, the Center provides comprehensive advising, tutoring, instruction, and academic support to foster student success.
Ms. Saldaña had a vision from the beginning – to honor the legacy of her grandmother who did not have the opportunity to go to school, but raised her children and grandchildren to work hard, to pursue their passions, and to never stop learning. A lifelong Kingsville resident, Sarah Tudón Garcia’s reputation for perseverance and tenacity was passed down to the generations that followed her and she would be gratified to know that students at TAMUK will benefit from this gift in her honor.
